  • Are you a first time curler, or somebody who is interested in the game but has never played in a curling club?
  • Are you an intermediate curler looking to improve upon the basic skills of the game?
  • Have you curled for years, and looking to improve your strategy?

If any of the above apply to you, please sign-up for one of the two AMCC curling clinics offered at the end of September. Sliders and brooms will be available for first-time curlers - all you need to supply is a clean pair of indoor shoes (e.g. running shoes) to get started. Curl Manitoba certified instructors will be on-hand to provide all levels of instructions (and if you wish to continue your learning - further clinics are tentatively planned for Sundays later this Fall).

Space is limited, so click one of the links at the top of this web page to register today! Note: pre-registration and payment (via PayPal) is required, and is only available through the AMCC website. Further details will be presented to you once you start the registration process.

Curling Night At The Goldeyes - 23 Aug 2016

Dorothy Hollins and Sue Maxwell, along with Curl MB staff and other club representatives, participated in a curling promotion prior to the Goldeyes game which included complimentary tickets to the on field action. Although the success of the initiative received mixed reviews there was little doubt that our club pens and event passes to the Atkins Classic were the highlight of the evening and should result in some new members for the season ahead. Thanks to Dorothy, Sue and Nicole Wilkinson (Youth Program Coordinator) for volunteering their time and talent in support of this promotional endeavour.

Ice Shed Work Party - 25 Aug 2016

In keeping with the long time volunteer efforts of our Senior Men, Terry Brownlee was able to recruit a work party for the purpose of spreading new sand over the brine pipes ensuring a more level surface for Matt and his guys prior to this season's ice installation. Following a few hours of physical labour the guys were treated to coffee and Tim Bits while comparing notes about aches, pains and the aging process in general.

The AMCC continues to have an enviable volunteer base. In that regard all members should be aware that volunteers will be required in support of a number of high profile events in the 2016/17 season.

A record number of Past Presidents attended the Celebration of Life for Mel Rogers held 13 May at the Viscount Gort.   The Purple Patch definitely stood out in the rather large crowd receiving many compliments about the blazers and the excellent turn out.  The family was particularly appreciative of this overwhelming display of respect for Mel and made a point of including his club blazer on the table of memories.

past presidents

In his remarks, on behalf of the Board of Directors and all members, Paul noted that Mel was a relatively young President in 1974-75 at a time when the club was being rebuilt, membership was flourishing, impressive bar revenues made up for the opportunity to apply for Financial Grants, the club rooms were blue with smoke and Minutes of meetings were either handwritten or documented on a (manual) typewriter and copied for distribution.  Paul further recognized the efforts of all Past Presidents and many other AMCC folks in attendance for their untiring work in making our Club one of the best in the City, if not the entire Province, while lamenting the fact that volunteerism is undergoing a significant downturn.

Given the large crowd and many (mostly humorous) stories it was quite obvious that Mel led a full life and touched many people during his 72 years on this side of the grass.
