2016 Christmas Cheer Board Donation

For over ten years AMCC Mon, Tue & Thu Men’s Leagues have collected the proceeds from all December 50/50 proceeds and donated them to Winnipeg’s Christmas Cheer Board. This practice was started by Jim Bender of the Winnipeg Sun and Daryl Fathers, AMCC former Bar Manager.

This year’s donation was $407.00 which is a significant increase over last year’s $268.50. Jim Bender accepted our cheque on behalf of the Christmas Cheer Board and expressed gratitude to the Men’s Leagues for their generosity. Pictured L to R: Cindy Boroskae, Jim Bender, Al Seredynski.

A huge THANK YOU is also extended to Cindy and her bar staff for ensuring that all Men’s League curlers have the “opportunity” to participate.

Congratulations 2017 Mens' and Womens' Junior Provincial Champions

AMCC proudly congratulates Team Burtnyk (Skip Laura Burtnyk, Third Hailey Ryan, Second Sara Oliver, Lead Rebecca Cormier, and Coach Scott Grant) and Team Ryan (Skip JT Ryan, Third Jacques Gauthier, Second Graham McFarlane, Lead Brendan Bilawka, Fifth Kyle Allenby, and Coach John Lund) on their championship wins at the 2017 CurlManitoba Canola Junior Provincial Championships.

Team Ryan and Team Burtnyk will represent Manitoba at the Canadian Junior Championship in Victoria, BC from January 21-29.

AMCC Highlights:

J.T. Ryan (pictured) of Assiniboine Memorial, the only team to go 7-0 this week, topped the Red division and takes on Braden Calvert of the Granite (6-1) in the 1 vs. 1 game.
Brooke Friesen of Winkler and Paige Watkins of Deer Lodge are battling late this afternoon for the final spot. The teams had identical 5-2 records after round-robin play in the Black group and are playing for second place and the right to participate in the 2 vs. 2 game of the Page playoffs against Laura Burtnyk of Assiniboine Memorial tonight at St. Vital.

The Ryan family had a terrific morning at the Manitoba junior curling championships at Winnipeg's St. Vital Club.

J.T. Ryan skipped his Assiniboine Memorial team to a 7-6 victory over Hayden Forrester of Fort Rouge in the junior men's semifinal. Live Score

MANITOBA OPEN: The continued success of the MB Open requires the support of curling clubs in Manitoba and specifically Winnipeg and surrounding area. This event assists in keeping Manitoba with the lowest membership fees in the country. We ask all clubs to encourage your members to either participate in the Manitoba Open Jan 19 – 23 (6 games guarantee) or the HALFspiel Jan 20-22 (3 game guarantee). Only two days left to register. BEST WESTERN MIXED DOUBLES Try your hand at Curling’s newest Olympic Sport – Mixed Doubles Curling. The Best Western Mixed Doubles event will be hosted in Stonewall February 2 – 5, 2017.
