Following 32 seasons of curling out of the Assiniboine Memorial Curling Club, and based on declining membership, the Tues/Thurs Senior Mixed Curling League made a difficult decision to dissolve their operation.

Founded August 20, 1985 with support from grants provided by the New Horizons Program, the League peaked in the 1995-96 season with 143 curlers and ended its operation with an average 12 members per quarter. In addition to curling, the League offered golf outings, dinner theatres and other social activities until approximately 2008.

On a more positive note a number of the members will continue to get their "curling fix" and social interaction by joining the Tuesday CFB Mixed League.

The demise of the Senior Mixed league, and slight modification to the draw time for CFB, will allow additional ice times for the very popular Stick Leagues.

Many thanks to the Senior Mixed for their long time support of our great facility.

Thanks to the AMCC Ladies League for awarding two of our junior curlers with the Sports Person of the Year Award, placing their names on the plaques that are displayed at the club and giving them a generous cash award. Congratulations to Kaylee Vellam and Aiden Gerbrandt (pictured below) on their excellent sportsmanship over the 2016-2017 season.

Congratulations as well to Kaitlyn Vellam and Aric Gurdibaniuk on winning the Junior Hot Shots Competition over the season. Finally, we would like to congratulate teams Randell and Rintoul on winning the Bantam and Junior playoffs, respectively. See you back next season!

Congratulations to all of the teams, under the coordination of Roy Tunney, who competed in this year's Senior Interclub play culminating in a decisive final game victory against Charleswood and the awarding of the league trophy to AMCC. Congratulations to the Barb Spencer team in earning a spot in next year's Provincial Scotties by virtue of winning a very recent berth spiel in Swan Lake. Well done to a few teams from the Youth Program who represented the club very well in a few spiels over the season. Huge congrats to the Ryan and Burtnyk teams in winning the Provincial Juniors and doing all of us very proud at the Nationals. I fully anticipate many more good news stories in the seasons ahead.

Special appreciation and recognition for a job very well done to the many volunteers and staff for their collective efforts in delivering a number of first class events throughout the season, most recently the Provincial Travelers. All aspects of our great facility, and truly outstanding efforts of everyone involved with the Event, were recognized by the participants, officials and visitors from opening day right on through to the awards presentation on Sunday evening. Congratulations to the Scott Barth host team for making it to the final game only to lose to a team from Brandon. Although the women's host team, skipped by Kathy Cox, was not quite as successful they nevertheless earned a gold medal by virtue of curling a number of games while still contributing their time, talent and energy in direct volunteer support of the event. Links to Travelers photos will be posted at a later date.

Thanks to those leagues who were willing to modify their schedules in order to support revenue generating events so critical to the Club's bottom line.

As a another season winds down you are reminded of the Funspiel (details on the website) as well as the need to check out our very informative site for facility, league and general info relative to the season(s) ahead. Please consider expanding your contribution to the club by joining the Board of Directors and becoming involved in the decision making process so important to future operations.

Have a great off season.
