Restaurant Ordering / Loyalty App

As the Club returns to a state of normalcy following the "invasion" of some 150, 16 and under curlers along with their support group of coaches, family and friends - I would like to extend sincere appreciation to Loyd, George, Dorothy, Sue and Elsie for putting in some looooong days in direct support of the Youth Spring spiel. As Event Assistants, Loyd, Dorothy, Sue and Elsie ensured that the event ran smoothly while George's sale of 50/50 tickets resulted in a pretty decent contribution to the Club's Bank Account.

Thanks to Matt and his crew for providing great ice while keeping the facility as neat and tidy as possible given the very limited time between draws and large crowds throughout the 3 days. The bar staff are to be commended for dealing with periods of fairly busy activity, interdispersed with periods of complete boredom and the ever present popcorn cleanup. Boredom was definitely not a factor with the Restaurant staff as they endeavoured to cope with a large demand for food service compounded by the limited time between draws and space constraints. Of note - Curl MB will be revising the draw format for future Youth Spring Spiels in order to make the event more manageable from a Club perspective.

Hope to see many of you at the season ending Funspiel!

Thirty two teams from across the City took to the great AMCC ice March 22-25 to compete for some cash and bragging rights at the very popular Senior (aka Archie) Mens Spiel.

The exceptional efforts of the organizing committee, daily prize draws, superb ice conditions as well as much appreciated Bar and food service resulted in many accolades from curlers and spectators. Over the years this spiel has earned a well deserved reputation, so much so that Archie has the luxury of referring to a waiting list in the event that teams must drop out on short notice.

Friday afternoon's First Event final saw the Albert Bazinet team from Fort Rouge (pictured) make relatively short work of the Jerome Kirby foursome from Deer Lodge. AMCC teams of Wayne Johnson, Paul Batchelor, and Lawrie Hogg also made it to the finals with Wayne winning the Second Event. Based on the very positive comments it would appear that the 2017 Spiel will also be over subscribed.

Click for larger imageThe AMCC was pleased to host the 12th Annual Provincial Sticks Curling Championship 19-21 Feb 2016. A total of 40 teams, comprised of 10 or 11 from the AMCC with the balance from City and Rural clubs, took to the pebbled surface for 3 days of intense competition. The hardworking MSCA Host Committee, in concert with Club staff, ensured the delivery of a first class event culminating in many positive reviews.

In spite of a fairly busy schedule, all participants found time to socialize and talk about the "curling days that were" and how the advent of the delivery stick has extended their enjoyment of the roaring game while introducing many new folks to the sport. It is generally acknowledged that many curling facilities and individuals continue to benefit from the phenomenal growth of Stick Curling.

Although many of the AMCC teams attained good results it was left to John Barzarkewich and Marty Nechwediuk to better the field and capture the Provincial Championship. John and Marty are pictured proudly holding the Provincial trophy surrounded by some of their fellow stickers. In addition to the Championship laurels, John and Marty will also receive a small allowance, from the MSCA, to offset some of their travel expenses as they represent the Province at the National Championship in Vernon BC. The Board of Directors and all members of the AMCC wish them good curling in Vernon and know that they will represent us very well.
