The AMCC was pleased to host the 12th Annual Provincial Sticks Curling Championship 19-21 Feb 2016. A total of 40 teams, comprised of 10 or 11 from the AMCC with the balance from City and Rural clubs, took to the pebbled surface for 3 days of intense competition. The hardworking MSCA Host Committee, in concert with Club staff, ensured the delivery of a first class event culminating in many positive reviews.
In spite of a fairly busy schedule, all participants found time to socialize and talk about the "curling days that were" and how the advent of the delivery stick has extended their enjoyment of the roaring game while introducing many new folks to the sport. It is generally acknowledged that many curling facilities and individuals continue to benefit from the phenomenal growth of Stick Curling.
Although many of the AMCC teams attained good results it was left to John Barzarkewich and Marty Nechwediuk to better the field and capture the Provincial Championship. John and Marty are pictured proudly holding the Provincial trophy surrounded by some of their fellow stickers. In addition to the Championship laurels, John and Marty will also receive a small allowance, from the MSCA, to offset some of their travel expenses as they represent the Province at the National Championship in Vernon BC. The Board of Directors and all members of the AMCC wish them good curling in Vernon and know that they will represent us very well.
