2021-22 Player's Guide Highlights

AMCC is pleased to welcome all curlers back for a safe and enjoyable 2021-22 curling season.

AMCC's operating procedures and policies are based on Curling Canada and Curl Manitoba’s return-to-play guidelines, as well as public health orders / recommendations provided by the Province of Manitoba. It was adopted as part of our Return to Play Plan by motion passed at a special meeting of AMCC’s Board of Directors on August 18, 2020. It was revised to comply with updated Province of Manitoba Public Health Recommendations and Orders as of August 27, 2021.

The Short Version

AMCC’s policies for operating in compliance with public health orders related to the COVID-19 pandemic will be familiar from other aspects of everyday life.

  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination is required to enter the facility. The AMCC encourages our members and guests to obtain full vaccination, after consulting with a medical professional to address any possible concerns in order to enjoy the use of our facility.

  • Stay home if you are feeling sick, or have been in contact with any confirmed or suspected case of COVID-19. Note the following specific requirement:
    • If the individual experiences, or if anyone in the individual’s household experiences, any signs or symptoms of COVID-19 after submitting this Declaration of Compliance, the individual will immediately isolate, notify the Organization, and not attend any of the Organization’s facilities, activities, programs or services until at least 14 days have passed since those symptoms were last experienced.
  • Games may be played utilizing the pre-covid method of play (i.e. two sweepers permitted) - with enhanced sanitation and limited distancing protocols applied to all leagues. Individual leagues may at their discretion continue to utilize the 1 sweeper format.
  • Sign in and out of the facility (if visiting outside of your scheduled league game time), and assist your invited guests / spectators in doing the same.
  • Use of a mouth and nose covering face mask is recommended and encouraged at all times. Masks wear is required when guests are not curling, or not seated in the café / lounge.
  • Maintain 6’ / 2m physical distancing as much as possible.
  • Use hand sanitizer and wash hands often.
  • Read and follow all signs and floor markings.
  • Read and understand all facility guidelines and policies.
  • Locker rooms will be made available to start this season, with maximum occupancy limited to four (4) persons in the Male Locker Room and eight (8) in the Female Locker Room at any time to facilitate physical distancing. Mask use while in the locker rooms is required.
  • Sign and submit all required waivers prior to your first game.
  • Adhere to scheduled game start and end times.

Please realize that as with all other aspects of life since March 2020, AMCC’s operations are subject to drastic and sudden change. As such, this document will be updated throughout the curling season as public health orders require it to be. Please realize that although we all hope future changes may lead to “less restrictive” operations – the possibility of “more restrictive” changes up to and including facility closure of an indefinite duration cannot be ruled out.

To make adjusting to this change easier when required:

  • Please stay in touch with your league convener on a regular basis.
  • Look for and follow all signage and directional markers posted within the facility.
  • Watch the AMCC website, Facebook, and Twitter online resources for updates.
  • Please be kind and courteous to our staff and volunteers at all times.
  • Note that in case of inadvertent conflict between our Player’s Guide and orders issued by governing bodies, the more restrictive / cautious approach will be applicable.

Before your league’s first game

All activities in a person’s life involve risks. At AMCC, the Board of Directors and Staff are making all reasonable efforts possible to reduce the chance that risks encountered within our facility will result in any harm to our members, staff or guests.

Due to the additional risk of COVID-19 in our lives at this time, the Board of Directors is insisting that all curlers provide written sign-off and agreement that they:

  • Understand all of the risks involved in participating in activities within our facility.
  • Understand all actions they need to take within our facility to prevent harm to themselves or others.
  • Understand that for the protection of all individuals within the facility and the public at large, actions will be taken if required guidelines are not followed at all times.

In support of the goals above, all curlers are required to:

  • Review and provide required acceptance of AMCC’s Declaration of Compliance.
  • Refrain from visiting the facility for 14 days, if the conditions outlined in the Declaration of Compliance are not met at any time during the season.
  • Review and provide required acceptance of AMCC’s Waiver of Liability.
  • In the case of curlers under the age of 18, parents are responsible for reviewing the above materials with the their child(ren) and assuming applicable risks on each child’s behalf.

All members of a league must complete the required waivers before any player will be allowed to enter the ice shed for the league’s first game. Facility staff and league conveners have the full support of AMCC’s Board of Directors in enforcing this requirement.
