Very Busy Weekend at The Home of Champions

A very busy weekend at the Assiniboine Memorial Curling Club featured the recognition of previous Provincial and World Champions, with a ribbon cutting ceremony by Kerry Burtnyk and a few of his teammates representing the many banners which have been mounted in a place of prominence on the wall of sheet one.

Speaking on behalf of these teams, Kerry expressed his sincere appreciation for this very special recognition reminding the crowd that he is the only curler, at his prestigious level, that has been a member of the same club since he started competitive curling. He closed his remarks with a sense of pride noting that his daughters and Jeff Ryan's daughter and son are continuing to "bring home the banners". Click for additional photos / video.

Following three days of very competitive curling the Barb Spencer and Cory Chambers teams captured the Atkins Classic Women's and Men's titles respectively.  Title Sponsor, Atkins Curling Supplies, ensured competitive fields with 15 Women's and 16 Men's teams competing for a sizeable purse and WCT/MCT/CTRS points.  Thanks to the athletes for a display of great curling, staff and volunteers for their dedicated efforts and the many guests for their support of the event and the facility.

Adding to an already busy weekend, the Manitoba Pinball Association hosted a tournament in the upper lounge which introduced many new faces to the club, while generating additional revenues and an opportunity to observe highly skilled pinball competitors.

The 2018/19 curling season is now fully underway and we hope to see many new and old faces on the pebbled surface as well as in the restauant and lounge.

New for the AMCC Lounge: Pinball Tables!

AMCC is excited to announce that we will be offering pinball tables as entertainment in our lounge this season, thanks to a partnership with the Manitoba Pinball Association!

The first tables will be in-place for all lounge guests to use when the Club opens for the season (per-game cost ranges from $0.50 - $1.25). Games will be rotated regularly to keep things fresh and give all of our guests a chance to try the more popular games. Renters will have the option of keeping the machines on or shutting them off during special events.

As part of this partnership, the The Manitoba Pinball League will host a number of pinball tournaments throughout the curling season, which are generally open for anyone age 18+ to enter. The first one will coincide with the Atkins Curling Supplies Classic Bonspiel, October 12-15 - click here for details.

Watch our social media feeds and website for events throughout this curling season. For more information about the Manitoba Pinball League, please visit their website: http://www.manitobapinball.com

Please join us in welcoming our new entertainment partners for the 2018-19 curling season!

October 13: Clay Young featured an interview with David Morris of the Manitoba Pinball League, highlighting their tournament being held in the AMCC lounge later today.

David did a great job explaining why enthusiasts are getting back into the game, and summarizing the format of today's tournament for those of us who have never participated before. You can listen to the audio by clicking here.

All AMCC members are encouraged to support our new entertainment partners by entering their open tournaments! The next one will be held at 6:00 pm, Saturday, October 20.
