Building on the success of our program in 2017-18, Assiniboine Memorial Curling Club is seeking applications for the contract term positions of Adult Learn to Curl Program Co-Ordinator (1), and Adult Learn to Curl Instructors (up to 8) on Sundays beginning in October, 2018. Interested parties – please forward your contact information, and a brief description of how you can contribute your talents to our program to AMCC Past President Loyd Olson, This email address is being protected from spambots. Instructor duties:

  • Deliver training curriculum to an assigned group of participants on a weekly basis, for the duration of a 16-week program. (half-season opportunities also available)
  • Assist the Program Co-ordinator in organization and delivery of two participant social events.
  • Time commitment: 2 hours on-ice time + 0.5 hour off-ice prep per week.
    Additional paid opportunities to introduce new curlers to the sport may be available during occasional daytime and weekend events. 

Instructor Qualifications:

  • Age 18+
  • Enthusiastic, friendly and outgoing personality
  • Basic knowledge of curling game format, skills and strategy
  • Ability to follow and deliver the training curriculum provided through the Program Co-ordinator
  • Experience with stick curling may be an asset

Co-ordinator duties:

  • Act as a “head instructor” by relaying the program curriculum to other instructors and overseeing program sessions each week.
  • Act as a central point of contact for instructors and participants of the AMCC Adult Learn to Curl Program.
  • Ensure that sufficient instructors are present to deliver training on a weekly basis.
  • Produce weekly social media posts for AMCC Twitter and Facebook feeds.
  • Liaise with Club Manager and Ice Crew to work through any ice quality and scheduling issues that may arise.
  • Produce draw / schedule for “play a game” portion of the program.
  • Organize two participant social events (with assistance from Club catering staff and volunteers).
  • Procure prizes for season wind-up (with funds supplied by AMCC).
  • Time commitment: 2 hours on-ice time + 2 hour off-ice prep per week

Co-ordinator Qualifications:

Minimum:

  • Age 18+
  • Enthusiastic, friendly and outgoing personality
  • Basic knowledge of curling game format, skills and strategy
  • Organizational skills
  • Oral, written and online communication skills – including the ability to follow and deliver a published training curriculum

Ideal applicant will have:

  • Club Coach certification or
  • Other coaching or teaching experience and
  • Stick curling experience may be an asset (dependent on interests of attendees)
