2015/16 Curling Season Gets Off To A Very Busy Start

Matt and his hardworking crew had the ice ready to go as scheduled with the Ernie Oliver Stick Spiel running 30 Sep - 01 Oct.  This annual event featured great curling and socialization while providing some participants with their first exposure to this growing sport.  The First Event was captured by long time stickers Johnson/Carman, Second Event Oliver/Sobkowicz, Third Event Campbell/Campbell with Cook/Nechwediuk winning the Fourth Event.

Evenings 30 Sep - 02 Oct 2015 featured very successful curling clinics.  Thanks in large part to the organizational skills of Club President, Loyd Olson, the expertise of Curl MB instructors and a number of volunteers many individuals were able to fine tune their skill levels, change some bad habits or learn the game from ground zero.  Hoping to capitalize on this success, Loyd is considering a November Refresher Clinic (more details to follow).

As pictured, the Club was very pleased to host the National Wheelchair Team Training Camp 02-04 Oct, featuring our very own Dennis Thiessen and Jamie Anseeuw.  Dennis was joined by other members of the Paralympic Gold Medal team which included Jim Armstrong (a six time Brier participant "back in the day".)  Except for short lunch breaks these truly remarkable athletes were on the ice from first thing in the morning until mid-late day (a real inspiration).

Our great facility received some very positive comments throughout this rather busy start which bodes well for the season ahead.  Some leagues have already started while others hit the ice after Thanksgiving.  Contact your respective League Convenor if not sure of first draw, every effort will be made to post schedules on the website.

Have a great season
